We currently have a per diem Medical Technologist position available to join our state of the art Needham Microbiology Laboratory The Medical Technologist analyzes and tests body fluids and tissues. This includes blood, urine, CSF and synovial fluids. Responsible for operating and maintaining complex analyzers that are used in a laboratory and ensuring the exercising independent judgment when evaluating the validity of test results prior to result reporting. Provides data for the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease. Operates and calibrates all equipment in the area of specialization, evaluates the validity of laboratory data, records tests results, communicates with physicians, pathologists and nursing staff regarding test procedures and results. Education: Bachelor of Science degree in medical laboratory science or equivalent with minimum of 6 months' clinical training. Certified Medical Technologist (ASCP), or equivalent certification such as NCA is strongly preferred (those without Certification are typically expected to become certified within 6 months of date of hire). Will also accept certifications meeting the federal requirements of CLIA 88. Skills and Experience: 1-3 years related experience in Microbiology. Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to resolve complex clinical and instrument problems. Accurate, reliable, and able to work well under pressure and to finish a task once started.
